For the construction of an office building, rental company REMAYSER erected three tall Linden Comansa tower cranes without anchorage to any other structure.
It is not strange to see dozens of tower cranes all over a large city like Barcelona. It is not strange either to see 90 metre-high tower cranes working in a new business district under development like the 22@ of Spain’s second most populated town. What is exceptional is to find tower cranes working at a height of 89 metres without tie beams to any adjacent structure. Such achievement, accomplished by REMAYSER, one of Spain’s most important tower crane rental companies, was carried out thanks to Linden Comansa’s modular system.
Three tower cranes were needed to build the "Parc Glòries" office building, due to its narrow and long ground plan. The diaphanous design of its 17 floors didn’t allow to tie the tower cranes on each corner of the building to any column or structure, but it was necessary to use tall tower cranes to finalize the job. REMAYSER’s engineering service found the optimal solution and submitted a project based on Linden Comansa’s modular system, that allows to combine different mast sections in the same crane, by means of transition sections.
By placing the stronger and wider mast sections in the bottom part of the tower (the 2.5 metre-wide sections first, then the 2 metre-wide and finally the 1.2 metre-wide on top), REMAYSER was able to erect both machines. Those Linden Comansa cranes, model LC5211, are now working at a freestanding height of 89 metres, without any anchor tie to the building, as the cranes are totally secure with such tower configuration.
Between these two cranes, REMAYSER also erected a Linden Comansa LC1060 crane, with freestanding height of 69 metres. As the new building gains in height, this crane will be tied to the structure and will be jacked-up to a final height under hook of 97 metres.
From its office in Parets del Vallès, near Barcelona, REMAYSER helps construction companies to cover their tower crane need all over the Catalonia region and neighbouring provinces. REMAYSER owns one of Spain’s largest rental fleets, with around 300 Linden Comansa tower cranes, and employs a score of professionals. REMAYSER is renowned in the market not only for the rental business, but also for its comprehensive services of engineering, technical support, assembly and maintenance of tower cranes.
REMAYSER’s tower cranes have been involved in some landmark projects of modern Barcelona, like the AGBAR tower, the City of Justice, the expansion of the underground system or the construction of many buildings in the city’s new business and commercial neighbourhoods, like Hospitalet de Llobregat and the 22@ district.
