ASTRA presents the “Extreme by nature Tour”!

Two special HD9 and HHD9 8x6 dump trucks are ready to face the toughest missions around the world. A new definition that projects ASTRA’s history into a future made of safety, reliability and performance.

Two HD9 and HHD9 8x6 dump trucks left the Piacenza based plant to take part in the ASTRA Extreme by Nature Tour: a world tour full of dust, mud, stones and heavy loads. These two vehicles, featuring a special off-road livery, have been specifically designed and configured to meet the toughest assignments under the most extreme conditions and will be working in different locations around the world for several months.

Powered by a high-performance FPT Industrial 13-liter Euro VI Cursor engine, rated at 500 HP and driven by a fully automatic Allison 7 speed transmission with integrated retarder, they feature technical solutions contributing to increase the robustness, the reliability, and the durability of the product and at the same time maximizing the productivity in quarries and mines.

Every single component has been designed and developed to couple with the most demanding off-road use: reinforced axles allowing for payloads up to 11 tons front and up to 40 tons rear, a unique heavy-duty chassis made of sturdy high-tensile steel side members, an exclusive “power ring” rear tandem solution, which enhances the robustness of the entire chassis. In addition to that, a special 2.9 mt wide track rear axles guarantee even more stability during driving and unloading.
