Terex Cranes distributor CraneWorks has taken delivery of one of the first Demag® five-axle all terrain cranes in the U.S. The AC 220-5 is now available for purchase.
“With this acquisition, CraneWorks now has 370 machines in North America, including 46 Terex and Demag cranes,” said Keith Ayers, CEO of CraneWorks, Inc. “This Demag AC 220-5 crane joins the Terex AC 100/4L unit we recently added to our rental fleet, giving our customers the ability to easily handle their toughest jobs.”
First unveiled in 2016, the five-axle Demag AC 220-5 crane reduces operational and maintenance costs through its single-engine concept with start-stop functionality and intelligent motor management system. With the longest boom of any five-axle crane on the market, it has a 256-ft main boom that can be extended to a full 325 ft with jib extensions. The Demag AC 220-5 all terrain crane is highly maneuverable with all-axle steering, independent rear-axle steering and a dynamic launch control feature that helps the operator position the crane in confined spaces. The most compact crane in its class, it boasts an impressive lifting capacity into a small frame (under 10 ft wide and 48 ft long), ideal for navigating through confined areas. The crane is also equipped with the Demag IC-1 Plus control system. The system is designed to provide the crane’s maximum allowable lifting capacity, based on the slewing angle, for every crane configuration. The new control system no longer limits the maximum lifting capacity to a pre-calculated, 360° load chart which was based on the most unstable position of the crane. Instantaneous capacity calculations allow customers to take full advantage of the maximum lifting capacity available at any given slewing position for any crane configuration.
