Cummins to promote Hyrdogen in panel discussion and at Utility Expo

Jim Nebergall stated “Change is hard. Transitioning the off highway and commercial vehicle markets away from carbon-based fuel is very challenging. There isn’t a single solution that will accomplish this transition. The industry needs multiple solutions that enable carbon reductions today, tomorrow, and in the future. Hydrogen engines can deliver on these needs and will play an instrumental role in the industries decarbonization journey. This versatile zero-carbon fueled technology integrates into existing equipment while providing diesel like performance and maintenance practices. Hydrogen engines are the least disruptive technology for the commercial markets.”

To see a Cummins Hydrogen engine, you can visit the booth at Utility Expo where Cummins will show its new fuel-agnostic 15-liter engine platform with hydrogen, biogas and advanced diesel engines at Utility Expo, (booth E715, outdoor).  It offers OEMs the opportunity to accelerate the decarbonization of heavy-duty off-highway applications.

This new platform, designed for the next level of emissions, has a significant increase in power density with a more compact installation envelope enabling OEMs to increase machine capability and productivity with no impact on running cost. The fuel-agnostic architecture of the 15-litre next generation engine utilizes a common base engine with cylinder heads and fuel systems specifically tailored for hydrogen, natural gas, diesel and biofuels including HVO. The 15-liter hydrogen engine will be available with ratings from 400-to-530 hp and a peak torque of 2600 Nm. For applications powered by renewable biogas, this engine will offer ratings from 400-to-510 hp with a peak torque of 2500 Nm available. The advanced diesel version features will offer a broad power range of 450-to-650 hp, with an impressive 3200 Nm peak torque.

Cummins Merritor is also displaying products at Utility Expo, booth E715. The MX-810 Axle and the MTC- MTC-4200AC Series Transfer Case. The MX-810 Axle is engineered for medium- and heavy-duty vocational applications. Based on the same proven technology utilized in some of the most demanding wheeled Defense platforms, the 810 features a weight rating up to 24,000 pounds and provides the maneuverability and ground clearance required for the improved payloads and mobility required in vocational applications. MTC-4200AC Series Transfer Case is the next generation in Cummins-Meritor’s industry leading MTC-4000  series of transfer cases is the MTC-4200AC Series. These four-shaft, two-speed transfer cases (the MTC-4210AC, MTC-4210ACP and MTC-4213AC) feature additional enhancements and capabilities to ensure performance in the most demanding situations. Combining Cummins-Meritor’s legendary durability with an all-new aluminum housing, the AC Series of transfer cases do not require a separate auxiliary cooler in standard applications.
