The new Fassi Innovation Center is an avant-garde centre that fully expresses the innovative nature of Fassi.
“Leader in Innovation” is much more than a slogan for Fassi; it is a cornerstone of the company and of the entire group, the well-deserved recognition of the foresight of the President Giovanni Fassi in making professional choices that have always favoured investments in innovation and automation, with the precise goal of rendering its clients’ work safer and more efficient.
“Change and innovation are the two pillars on which our essence is founded", stresses Giovanni Fassi. "This spirit has, over time, allowed us to become leaders in a series of sectors, markets and products, even anticipating future demands, because we are convinced that innovation does not end with the identification of solutions, but goes beyond, seeking out new requirements. The new Technological Centre is the natural evolution of this philosophy, in which we have always believed. A place dedicated to research and development, to the imagining and designing of highly technological machines and systems. We created this centre to identify and experiment unexplored solutions, a space open to all of the companies in the group (Fassi Gru, Cranab and Marrel), where our technicians turn designs into prototypes, testing their potential and their performance”.
As always, all this is based on the four pillars of Fassi innovation: safety, performance, usability and sustainability. Safety is a common thread for all our products and actions, a cornerstone of Fassi’s philosophy. Performance is the ability to manage power whenever and however needed, in accordance with individual operations and situations, through innovative tools that revolutionise the very concept of “power”. This power can now be controlled with increased precision and improved availability, aiding the various operations of lifting, handling and rotating loads. Usability is seen as efficiency and effectiveness, factors that result in satisfaction and optimisation of time for the end user, an area in which research and technological evolution have contributed extensively. Lastly, it is essential that innovation is sustainable, satisfying current demands without prejudicing the ability of future generations to satisfy theirs.
“We worked extensively to find a solution within the Albino headquarters, but the constant and significant growth of the various departments has always hindered its creation”, explains Rossano Ceresoli, Director of Research & Development for the Fassi Group. “This led to the decision - not easily taken - to shift our attention from the Albino headquarters to Nembro, less than 10 km away, where we were able to design from scratch, without restrictions but with the sole objective of creating not simply an R&D department, but a veritable innovation centre. The spacious wall in the internal showroom bears the words ‘We make innovation’. This is what we do through Fassi’s various and highly specialised products. Since the 2000s, cranes have become systems that contain a series of technologies and specialisations; mechanics and metalworking for the structure, hydraulics for power and motion, and electronics for safety and control. These are true mechatronic systems. It is thus through constant research in these sectors, and the ability to integrate them as opportune, that we can evolve and innovate our products. Innovation is based on development, in other words the constant offer of new products that, for some time now, have been more than simply cranes for lifting, becoming cranes for lumber and scrap with Cranab, multi-terrain cranes on caterpillar tracks with Jekko, hooklifts for the handling of skips and containers with Marrel, and sensors and electronics with TSM, all brands within the Fassi Group”.
