• The Dutch heavy lift company needed a 150 t addition to its fleet and opted for a used machine from Manitowoc.
Dutch company Q3 Heavy Lift has received a used Grove GMK5150L all-terrain crane from Manitowoc. The crane manufactured in 2019 was in stock at Manitowoc’s Breda facility, enabling a quick delivery for Q3 Heavy Lift. However, the company wanted to ensure a ‘like new feel’, so the local team in Breda set about making a series of updates to prepare it for handover.
The Manitowoc Netherlands team managed the whole process, working with local partners as a one-stop shop for the customer. The crane was fully road-tested and licensed for the Netherlands – including securing the required TCVT crane certificate. Refresh work included mounting a second oil cooler for the hydraulic system superstructure, installing a 24 t trailer hitch, adding 10 new Michelin X-crane tires, and completing a full paint job in the customer’s colors.
“Our team has consistently benefited from Grove’s excellent customer service and problem-solving approach. Manitowoc’s mobile cranes sales manager Niek Brabers knew we were searching for a crane in the 150 t capacity class and offered us the used GMK5150L. We were really happy to purchase directly from Manitowoc because the Company was able to outfit it with additional options and features, providing exactly what we wanted,” said Vincent de Wilde, managing director at Q3 Heavy Lift.
Grove’s 150 t GMK5150L offers impressive strength, with 11.8 t of lifting capacity at its 60 m full boom length. It also provides the strongest taxi configurations in its class, with a counterweight of up to 10.2 t within a 12 t per axle configuration. This means easier roadability, transport savings, and more jobsite accessibility. Q3 Heavy Lift is a full-service logistics supplier specializing in on- and offshore heavy cargo and lift projects. Based in the Netherlands, the company has a team of experienced professionals with a passion for heavy logistics.
