On April 29, 2021, China successfully launched the core module of its space station to orbit, known as CSS (China Space Station). Haulotte machines have been working at Wenchang spacecraft launch site for the assembly and testing stage of this central piece of the future station.
The construction of China’s space station is underway. Haulotte MEWPs contributed to the success of the mission during the assembly process of the 16.6 meter module, named "Tianhe". With smooth elevating and driving functions thanks to its AC motors, the STAR 10 vertical mast lets operators work comfortably. Control and manoeuvring while elevated is intuitive and precise. Thanks to the narrow turning radius, operators can manoeuvre in the most restricted spaces. The 3-meter outreach vertical jib enables access the most difficult-to-reach places.
Robust, the HA15 IP electric articulating boom has a compact size which allows easy driving and operation in the tightest spaces. Thanks to a horizontal outreach of 8,65 m and fully proportional controls, this mobile elevating work platform offers optimal productivity and comfort up to 15 meters high. "We are pleased to be part of this historic project, which highlights the performance and reliability of our equipment", said Tim Mo, Marketing Manager at Haulotte China. This is not the first time that the European leader of people and material lifting equipment has participated in a Chinese space program. In 2003, Haulotte’s articulating booms had already contributed to the success of the first Chinese manned flight (Shenzhou 5 mission).
