Hyundai Construction Equipment will update its entire mini excavator offer, with the launch of a comprehensive range of award-winning EU Stage V machines. With operating weights of 1.7 to 5.5-tonnes, the A Series mini excavators will take centre stage at the Bauma 2022 construction fair in Munich in October. Features include: prestigious Red Dot Design Award for distinctive ‘Tiger Eye’ design language, with new colour scheme across the line-up; new hydraulic system for all models over 4 tonnes, with load-sensing technology and a variable displacement pump for smoother operation; all models have proportional joystick controls as standard, along with quick-coupler piping and safety valves on boom, arm and dozer blade cylinders; tilting cab on 3.5-5.5 tonne models delivers exceptional service access.
Eight new models, with operating weights of 1.7-tonnes to 5.5-tonnes, will join the recently unveiled HX10A Twin Drive micro excavator and the range-topping HX85A in a totally revitalised line of Hyundai mini excavators. Three of the machines, the HX35Az, the HX40A and the HX48Az, have already been recognised as winners of the Red Dot Design Award, from Design Zentrum Nordhein Westfalen in Germany.
The design centres around the Tiger Eye lighting theme at the rear of the machines, though the excavators have also been praised for their eco-friendly features and the ease of operation. All Hyundai mini excavators now benefit from an EU Stage V compliant diesel engine, reducing exhaust emissions and boosting fuel economy for the customer. The revised colour scheme includes a grey front attachment, in line with Hyundai’s heavier excavators and wheeled loaders. At the rear, the robust, yet clean lines give an impression of sturdy construction and exceptional build quality. All models over 4 tonnes operating weight are equipped with a revised hydraulic system, featuring Bosch-Rexroth load-sensing controls and a variable displacement pump. This contributes to smoother operation and faster response to operator input. Load-independent movement of hydraulic functions provides easy multi-tasking and increased productivity.
The mini excavators come with safety valves on main boom, dipper arm and dozer blade hydraulic cylinders, boosting safe operation. They are also equipped with optional quick-coupler piping. Extendable undercarriages and dozer blades on the HX17A and HX19A models deliver increased stability for heavy digging and lifting, while optional angled blades are offered on models above 3.5-tonnes. Long and short dipper arms are available, along with heavier counterweights on some models. A rearview camera is also an option on excavators over 4-tonnes operating weight. Six of the eight new models will be on show at the Bauma exhibition, representing the heart of the range.
“As the winner of this year’s Red Dot Design Award, we are very happy to be able to showcase the design of this new mini excavator range at the Bauma exhibition,” said Peter Sebold, Hyundai’s product manager for mini excavators. “There is no doubt that the presentation of a complete new product line, with such a striking new design, will make a lasting impression on visitors to the Bauma fair from across the globe.”
