Liebherr presents the A 918 Litronic wheeled excavator with emissions standard Stage IV / Tier 4f at Smopyc 2017. With an operating weight between 17,600 and 19,800 kg (38,800 – 43,600 lb) and engine power of 120 kW / 163 HP, the A 918 is the ideal machine both for classic earthmoving and road construction, as well as drainage and pipeline works.

The A 918 Litronic impresses with exceptionally high lift capacities and digging forces, as well as excellent travel performance and very low fuel consumption. The exhibit is equipped with a 2550 mm (8’ 4’’) wide undercarriage with rear outriggers and front stabilizer blade. The equipment includes a 5.25 m (17’ 3’’) long two-piece boom with central lubrication and a 2.65 m (8’ 8’’) stick with the hydraulic quick coupler system SW 48, as well as a 1250 mm (4’ 1’’) wide backhoe bucket with Z-tooth system and a capacity of 0.95 m³ (1,24 yd³).

A newly developed and very efficient Liebherr diesel engine is installed in the Liebherr A 918 Litronic wheeled excavator. The innovative Liebherr SCR technology is used in this current engine generation, which consists of a SCR catalyst system and other components such as an injector and AdBlue supply. A particulate filter is not necessary, but can also be installed for special construction site requirements. The complete system reduces exhaust emissions effectively without any compromise in performance. The maintenance intervals were also extended thanks to the further development of the Liebherr engine. This leads to fewer downtimes, thus increasing the productive working time of the machines. The increased efficiency achieved saves the customer unnecessary costs.

Thanks to the innovative Liebherr Power Efficiency (LPE), which optimally controls all power management processes of the new Liebherr wheeled excavators, the fuel consumption is reduced considerably. The proactive intervention in the engine control, adjustment of the swing angle of the hydraulic pump and of the engine speed, provide for optimum efficiency of the drive components in every working situation.

Another highlight of the machine is the new cab for enhanced safety and comfort. A foldable armrest is included in the standard equipment, which offers the machine operator enhanced safety when getting in and out of the excavator. Thanks to the large windows the machine operator has optimal visibility of his working area at all times.

The new automatic digging brake is installed as standard in the A 918. The digging brake is opened automatically upon startup and closes again automatically when the machine is stationary. This ensures maximum safety and high productivity owing to shorter response times.
