Manitowoc will use SaMoTer to showcase its most popular Grove and Potain cranes on the Italian market
Manitowoc will use SaMoTer to showcase its most popular Grove and Potain cranes on the Italian market – the GRT655L and RT550E rough terrain cranes from Grove, along with the MDT219 top slewing crane and the Hup 32-27 and IGO 21 self-erecting tower cranes from the Potain brand.
The company has a strong sales and aftersales team in Italy who will be on hand at booth F/50-53 to answer any questions visitors may have.
During the show, Manitowoc will also announce the winners of the Instagram photo contest launched in early January for Italian crane enthusiasts.
At the forthcoming SaMoTer trade show, held in Verona, Italy, March 21-25, Manitowoc will exhibit some of its most popular and important cranes for the Italian market.
Chief among them is the Grove GRT655L, which was successfully launched at the GIS (Giornate Italiane del Sollevamento) exhibition in Piacenza in October last year and is one of the first Grove rough terrain cranes that has been produced at Manitowoc’s Niella Tanaro production facility in Italy. Serial production has been up and running since Q3 2019 and the first units have already been delivered to Italian customers.
Compact and high reaching
The GRT655L is a compact machine with a maximum width of 3m and a best-in-class boom length of 43m. This makes it an ideal choice for rental companies, as well as those carrying out maintenance in the oil and gas industry. Its sister model, the GRT655, is also a popular choice for construction companies and contractors but the GRT655L provides the added bonus of a long reach. It comes with a two-year warranty as standard.
“The GRT655L has been well accepted by the market,” says Federico Lovera, product manager for rough terrain cranes at Manitowoc. “Italian customers appreciate that this model is made closer to them in a high-quality Italian facility and can be delivered on a relatively short lead time.”
Enrico Angiolini, sales director for South Europe says: “Manitowoc stands behind the quality of the new generation of GRTs and we are proud to be able to offer these superior products to Italian customers.”
The other mobile crane on display at SaMoTer is the RT550E, which is one of the best-sellers in Italy. Many customers have purchased it as a replacement for old two-axle all-terrain cranes. Like the GRT655L, the RT550E is popular for its compactness and long boom (39m). It can be easily transported between jobsites, meeting Italian road regulations and has a capacity of 45 t. From 2020, the RT550E is available with a Euromot 5 engine, which provides 5% greater power and 31% greater torque with less weight and lower fuel consumption.
Low total cost of ownership
Both the GRT655L and the RT550E offer an attractively low total cost of ownership. The Eco-Mode concept reduces fuel consumption while features, such as the inverted outrigger jacks and hydraulic disk brakes, ensure low maintenance costs. Both models are also available with Industry 4.0 telematics. This system provides real-time operation data, such as load, radius and alerts, and relays instructions between the crane and the office. It is fully compliant with the current Italian regulations and customers can benefit from tax credits
Grove and Potain together
This year Manitowoc comes to the exhibition with a selection of both Grove and Potain cranes. The Potain tower cranes on show at SaMoTer 2020 will include the very popular top slewing MDT 219 topless crane and the Hup 32-27 and Igo 21 self-erecting cranes, which are also best-sellers in Italy.
The MDT 219 topless city crane is the most popular CCS (Manitowoc Crane Control System) generation crane in this area. With the CCS technology, customers benefit from the most advanced levels of comfort with ergonomic control for the crane driver and the best crane performance output thanks to the smart integrated control system on the crane. With its 65m jib and 70m height under hook, it is one of the best positioned models in its category for residential and industry requirements. It is popular with both rental companies and direct customers.
Next to the top slewing crane, the Hup 32-27 will represent the new generation of Potain self-erecting cranes that include the very latest technology in self-erecting cranes. Thanks to their groundbreaking performance and capacity, both the Hup 40-30 and 32-27 are well regarded on the Italian market. The Hup cranes provide great versatility thanks to their 20 jib configurations. They also have the easiest set up process thanks to the exclusive Smart Set-up software and intuitive unfolding design. The crane provides excellent productivity performance thanks to the HPL lifting mechanisms and the permanent four falls of rope. The Hup cranes launched in 2016 are now a reference standard in the self-erecting cranes industry.
Since the Italian market also uses many small-format self-erecting cranes, the Hup 32-27 will be joined on the Manitowoc booth by one of the small Igo models, the Igo 21. This model is also manufactured in Italy and is among the most popular in the region. The Igo 21 has been a mainstay for the last 15 years.
