Outstanding construction line-up puts Volvo Trucks in pole position in the race towards the future

Volvo Trucks’ construction line-up has enjoyed a massive sales growth in recent years, underscoring the durability and outstanding qualities of these Volvo trucks. The company united forces with Volvo Construction Equipment and Volvo Penta at the Intermat 2018 to showcase a unique offer to the building and construction industry.

Our construction sales in Europe increased with 40 per cent in 2016, followed by another 25 per cent in 2017. And we have had a good start in 2018, with a 10 per cent growth in the first quarter compared to the same period last year. This proves that we have the solutions our customers are asking for,” says Roger Alm, President of Volvo Trucks Europe.

He adds: “We offer our customers complete solutions; including trucks, service contracts and financing. We can deliver turn-key solution trucks directly from our plants, or co-operate with a large network of body builders.”

Volvo Trucks’ product portfolio covers trucks for every kind of construction work. The Volvo FMX is one of the most capable and powerful construction trucks on the market, while the FH combines excellent cab comfort with features for rough operating conditions. The construction offer also includes the flexible Volvo FM for regional haul or heavier material distribution, and the medium duty FL and FE suitable for lighter construction work.

Purposeful innovations

The key expression in our development work is ‘purposeful innovations’. Each new feature is designed to make every working shift more productive,” says Roger Alm.

The game-changing Volvo Dynamic Steering, enabling the driver to steer a heavily loaded truck with only one finger, is an excellent example. Other solutions that make construction work safer and more productive include Automatic Traction Control and the automated transmission I-Shift with crawler gears.

We can offer the best solutions today and we intend to stay in the lead. We are making rapid progress within electromobility, connected trucks and automation,” says Roger Alm. “Only a few days ago, we became the first global manufacturer to introduce a fully electric truck for serial production.

He continues: “Electric trucks are another step on our ‘zero emissions journey’ that makes us the best partner for developing a sustainable society. Continuous focus on emission control has already made our diesel-powered trucks more effective than cars in reducing harmful emissions and particles.
