Putzmeister’s new truck-mounted concrete pumps from the 20 m class with astounding possible uses.

The 20 m class by Putzmeister is entering the next stage. Right from the beginning this time, customers – from owners to machine operators and service technicians – were on board during the development process. They discussed ideas with Putzmeister experts in meetings and workshops. The result speaks for itself: The new truck-mounted concrete pump models M24 and M28 impress with more versatility, infinitely variable support, a more compact size and a great deal of storage space. Much has been optimised in terms of ergonomics and safety too.

The construction machinery manufacturer from Aichtal clearly did everything right by bringing in customers at the early stages, meaning their needs could be taken into account right from the beginning. The new M24 and M28 machines bring together both innovative and tried-and-tested features. The models are already at the top of everyone’s wish lists simply because they are easier and more efficient for machine operators to handle, while owners are enthusiastic about the possible uses and corresponding profitability.

The new compact 20 m class provides many possibilities: The new machines have been developed and equipped for special applications in particular. This means that they are in their element in inner-city areas, as well as low buildings, tunnels or when concreting bridges or for hose applications.

What is behind the compact dimensions and new manoeuvrability at overall increased stability is the new TRC design (Trapezium Compact), which is a further development of Putzmeister’s proven TRD system. Thanks to the double telescopic support legs, the installation space required is reduced to a minimum – saving up to 600 mm of space in comparison with TRD.

The 4.3 m long, free and continuous flatbed (at standard MB dimension 5600) combined with the modular storage concept offers improved accessibility and, most importantly, a great deal more space than the previous models. This means more space for containers, shelves or storage compartments for hoses, pipes, couplings and other accessories. You can transport more than 200 m of hoses and pipes depending on the machine configuration.

A high level of safety already comes as standard at Putzmeister, for example with a continuous flatbed, handrails, a safety cut-out on the hopper and many more features. The continuous flatbed as well as increased usable areas minimise the risk of tripping, and, together with the new all-round lighting, create ergonomic working conditions. As a result, the machine can be set up well even in bad lighting.

The models in the 20 m class are impressive here too. Thanks to the new TRC support, they can be set up in any number of different support positions – infinitely variable, from no support to full support! The machine operator adjusts the machine depending on the space available on the construction site – the automated machine does the rest using live calculations. The same applies for booms, where the slip characteristics, in addition to the horizontal reach, decide where the machines can be used. The Z roll-and-fold system of the 24 M undoubtedly offers outstanding slip characteristics combined with a low unfolding height in even the tightest of spaces. In this respect, it is predestined for use in low buildings, under bridges and in tunnels, etc. An entirely new feature is the “Hall-master” function: The boom is folded in front of the driver’s cab, moved into a building or tunnel, and can then be unfolded there with no interference from the driver’s cab thanks to the new arm kinematics. By contrast, the user-friendly and compact Z fold system of the M28 primarily saves time, since it is ready for use in no time.

Putzmeister’s powerful, economic core pumps with outputs of up to 160 m3/h and a pressure of 85 bar are almost legendary. The iLS core pumps and the Putzmeister iONTRON hybrid drive, unique in the world, prove to be even more efficient, as well as environmentally friendly. Both are now available for the 20 m machines. What’s more, importance has been placed on retaining familiarity on the control units and integrating innovations in such a way that they make day-to-day operation easier right from the start. Putzmeister has added some future-oriented functions. Operation with Ergonic 3 is pleasingly intuitive and practical so that even challenging concreting in low buildings is easy.

The M27, which is currently only available in Japan, also belongs to the newest-generation 20 m class. With a 27 m horizontal reach, the boom is currently the maximum that is permitted there on two axles. The flexibility and stability of the boom, good accessibility and the new Putzmeister TRC are all advantages of this model. It is also worth mentioning the short wheelbase, which combines manoeuvrability and compactness. The powerful motor ensures that the SBU has a huge pump output, bringing a healthy 100 bar pumping pressure to the construction site – ideal, for example, for concreting high-rise buildings
