The Dynapac CO5200 VI is a high-capacity machine with a 11,7 ton operating weight and a drum width of 1950 mm.

As a flagship and best-selling oscillatory roller within its range, the Dynapac CO5200 VI, is a high-capacity machine with a 11,7 ton operating weight and a drum width of 1950 mm. Oscillation drum rollers have been on the market for years and are especially sought after for application areas like bridge compaction, compaction near foundations, houses, or other concrete structures. The demand for oscillation rollers is also in part due to their ability to minimize the risk of crushed aggregates on thin asphalt layers, as well as offering ideal joint compaction results between cold and hot asphalt layers.

In spite of the many advantages oscillation brings with it, there have always been two operational issues that in the past have caused extra costs and time. The first of these is the wearing of the drum shell. The rubbing movement that an oscillation drum applies to asphalt results in greater force and eventual wear. Our solution to this challenge was as simple as it was effective – use the hardest steel possible. Aside from offering optimal strength and wear resistance, it had to also had to be flexible enough to easily bend and weld during production. In the end, the choice was made for Hardox 450, with an extra 50 Brinell hardness of over 400 grade. Hardox 450 has similar characteristics with other materials, but with one decisive difference: contrary to other metals in its class, Hardox 450 is hardened not only on the surface but all the way through the material. This extra process provides significantly better dent and abrasion resistance. This and the fact that the oscillation drum doesn’t vibrate but instead kneads the material all contribute a longer drum life and extended hours of hassle-free operation.

The second issue that needed to be resolved concerned the changing of the drive belts in the drum. In the past, this procedure was complex, extremely time-consuming, and costly. The difficulties caused by the eventual changing of the drive belts was solved with the introduction of service covers that made it easy to reach within the drum for optimal access. The oscillation drum comes with four bolted service covers that makes reaching for the timing belts faster and more convenient Additionally, every oscillation machine comes with a special included timing tool, which together with other handy features, enables maintenance crews to change the timing belt in just two hours. Crews can also watch our online tutorial that goes into more detail with step-by-step instructions.

The CO5200 VI not only offers optimal oscillation but also comes with a whole host of features that add more quality and performance to every application. This includes all the features found in the 10 - 12,5-ton generation VI rollers such as an active front drum steering with 520 mm offset, an asymmetric spacious, noise reducing cab and a convenient full seat rotation that makes limitations caused by forwards and backwards movement a thing of the past. An easy-to-understand instrument panel with 7-inch full color touch display offers an optimal overview of all functions and surroundings.

Comfort and operating convenience are crucial aspects to any job, which is why the CO5200 VI tandem roller offers various benefits made for operator ease. This begins with perhaps the most important system on an asphalt roller - the water system. That’s why the CO5200 VI comes with a full back up consisting of dual sprinkler bars on each drum. These are driven by two separate pumps and can easily be chosen via the display. The advantage for operators is that they always have a back-up, complete with an extra pump and an extra complete set of clean sprinkler nozzles connected to each pump. Reliability is further enhanced by a three-step filtering system, which includes a strainer in the fill hole, a filter located close to the pump, and a strainer on each nozzle. An automatic water control, sprinkler-timer, and full flow sprinkler button are also standard for the CO5200 VI. For cold-region areas, anti-freeze can easily be added to the sprinkler system to protect it from freezing. Thanks to the high-placed drum scrapers, cleaning and adjustments are reduced due to their distance from asphalt debris. All controls such as displays, levers and switches seamlessly follow the slideable and rotateable operator station. Additional benefits include easy to reach maintenance points, lubrication-free articulated joint and pistons, as well as a back-up camera for an optimal backwards view. A special focus on maximum ergonomics ensures greater comfort even after a long working day.

Reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions comes down to avoiding unnecessary passes. That’s why Dynapac offers a wide range of compaction control and documentation systems. Among these is an ECO-mode that constantly keeps the engine rpm as low as possible, thus reducing noise levels and enabling a lower fuel consumption by 15%. Dynapac also offers other low emission engine alternatives for the North American market, including a 97 kw/130 hp T4f Cummins QSF 3.8 engine. For the EU market, we offer a Cummins 3.8 engine with 97 kW/130 hp and a stage stage V emission level. Both comes with DOC and SCR, and the Stage V also comes equipped with diesel particle filter. Our IIIA version of the Cummins 3.8 engine with 104 kW/140 hp is ideal for markets that not yet offer ultra-low sulfur fuels. Biodegradable hydraulic oil is available as an option.
