Volvo CE Operators Club to celebrate 20th anniversary

2018 marks the 20th anniversary of Volvo Construction Equipment’s world-renowned Operators Club. The milestone will be celebrated at this year’s Operators Club Final, where EMEA’s best operators will once again be pitted against one anot

On October 20th, the Volvo CE Operators Club Final will take place for the 20th year running. Finalists from 19 countries are invited to go head-to-head where it all began two decades ago, at the manufacturing facility in Konz, Germany. The top three finalists from last year’s event – Austria’s Johannes Unger, Germany’s Sascha Moog and Switzerland’s Ueli Hunziker – will once again be vying for a shot at the title. 

Since holding its first competition in 1998, the event has become one of the construction industry’s toughest tests of precision operation. Every year, the best machine operators from Europe and beyond engage in a competition designed to push their precision and competence skills to the maximum.

The challenges for each year’s final are a closely guarded secret and aren’t communicated until the day of the final itself, so only time will tell what grueling tasks this year’s finalists will be faced with. Challenges have previously included manoeuvring Volvo excavators through obstacle courses and demonstrating precise movements with various attachments – all against the clock. The operator with the quickest time – taking into account any penalties for mistakes – will be named the Operators Club champion 2018. 

20 years in the making…

The Operators Club was launched in 1998 and today has more than 27,000 members and is growing continuously. Each of the 19 Operators Club branches runs its own activites throughout the year, allowing operators to brush up their skills in a safe environment and share experiences with their peers.
