Dortmund-based Wiemann’s fleet would be inconceivable without Demag City cranes.

Dortmund-based Wiemann’s fleet would be inconceivable without Demag City cranes: “We’ve been using these cranes since 2001 and still find them amazing to this day. In fact, that’s why we wouldn’t have considered anything other than a Demag City crane for this new acquisition,” explains owner Martin Wiemann, who picked up his new AC 45 City with crane operator Axel Krügel in Zweibrücken. The new unit was delivered with a Demag E-Pack. The crane was handed over by Tadano Sales Manager Helge Prüfer, who has a longstanding relationship with Wiemann that is characterized by absolute trust: “Helge is a crane expert through and through. He takes care of everything and really sees eye to eye with our crane operators,” Martin Wiemann says, praising the business partnership.

As far as he is concerned, Demag keeps raising the bar industry-wide with its City cranes: “And the new AC 45 City is no exception. Its compact dimensions make it absolutely unbeatable, particularly in urban settings; it is easy to set up and disassemble; and, being a ‘taxi’ crane, it can take care of multiple jobs in a single day without a problem.” In addition, he expects the E-Pack to provide even greater versatility when it comes to indoor and nighttime assignments, as it ensures quiet, zero-emission crane operation: “This solution will be an absolute winner. I’m 100% sure of that,” he explains. And ESTA obviously agrees: The European association for the abnormal road transport and mobile crane rental industry recently recognized the E-Pack with this year’s award in the “Manufacturer: Innovation” category.

Crane operator Axel Krügel can only agree with this assessment: “When it comes to jobs in buildings or pedestrian zones, a lot of customers require a bunch of hoses to be routed in such a way as to discharge emissions elsewhere, and this is expensive and time-consuming. With the E-Pack, the whole thing will be a thing of the past,” he mentions as a crucial advantage. And even without thinking about the E-Pack, he is already looking forward to working with the new crane, which he thinks is a top-of-the-line machine. More specifically, his frequent assignments in dense urban areas in the Ruhr often involve going through tight passages in courtyards where space is extremely tight – and the AC 45 City is the perfect machine for that as far as he is concerned. “And also due to the large number of cameras, which are perfect for monitoring the slewing range, for example. In fact, this is especially important given that it’s always possible for someone to cross the danger zone without thinking – even if the corresponding public area is blocked off,” he mentions, drawing from past experience. He is already excitedly looking forward to his first job with the new AC 45 City in the high-bay warehouse for a large supermarket chain – basically put, the crane was made precisely for that kind of scenario.
